DINGELL VOWS TO PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY

Tells Ypsilanti seniors Social Security will be safe with him

Dearborn — United States Representative John Dingell met with seniors in the 15th Congressional District today.  At a luncheon at the Ypsilanti Senior Center, Congressman Dingell affirmed to the attendees that Social Security is safe under his watch.

Dingell vowed to protect Social Security.  He expressed to the group that he and his fellow Democrats are fighting to make sure Social Security is safe.  His father was one of the architects of Social Security and despite what Republicans say, Social Security has proved to be one of the most successful programs ever established.

“I have spent years protecting Social Security from efforts to cut benefits and privatize the program.  My opponent, Rob Steele, wants to create mischief and privatize this very successful program, turning your Social Security over Wall Street bankers,” said Dingell.  “Republicans have fought Social Security from its inception.  My opponent will use this term “deficit reduction” to try to cut your Social Security.  Don’t be fooled; there are other ways to reduce the deficit – without cutting your benefits from this critically important program. Social Security will not  be cut or privatized on my watch – you can count on that.”

Dingell is endorsed by the National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare and earned a 100% voting record on their Congressional scorecard.  Also, Dingell for Congress has launched its second television ad, “Gamble,” focusing on Republican candidate Rob Steele’s plan to gamble the hard-earned benefits of Social Security on Wall Street.  The ad is airing on broadcast television throughout the 15th District of Michigan.
