Message from Debbie Dingell: 19 days until the election
October 14, 2010
Friends,
19 days until the election – but who’s counting? The weather has been perfect and I cannot remember a more perfect game day than last Saturday. John and I have been having lots of fun travelling the district, spending time with friends. Our days are filled with shopping at the farmer’s market for the best of Michigan’s harvest, tailgating with the college dems (they taught me a new dance!), celebrating the latest milestone of for the River Raisin Battlefield in Monroe and participating in a number of cancer awareness events for breast cancer month. My basement – which flooded during the severe storms this past summer – has finally been fixed and my neighbor’s house which flooded for a different reason is almost done.
It has also been a tough time. My sister-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer and began chemotherapy last week. And my childhood buddies and I are struggling to support our dear friend whose husband mysteriously disappeared last month in Macomb County. I continue to ask for your prayers for both.
What has meant a lot to me this last month is traveling with John on the campaign trail as he is talking to people and hearing their stories about why they are excited to vote for him and how his work in Congress has made a difference in their lives. John works hard and he delivers . I am always moved that even in Michigan’s most difficult times, he keeps working, fighting and moving forward.
I am proud of my husband and his commitment to Michigan. As we go into the remaining days of this campaign, I am asking for your help in telling the John Dingell story.
Here are some ways to do that:
1. Volunteer a few hours! We are walking door-to-door in communities throughout the 15th… Dearborn, Ypsilanti, Brownstown, Inkster, Romulus, Ann Arbor among others… help spread the word and have fun with others in the final days.
Please click here to contact our office to volunteer to walk for us.
2. Work the phones! Phone banking is a proven way of outreach to help get people out to vote. Over the next 19 days commit to make calls and email your friends. Let’s make record numbers of calls and keep the momentum going.
Please click here to make phone calls at our phone banks .
3. Help us on Election Day! There is are many assignments for Election Day and we need your help to ensure we get the vote out .
Please click here to volunteer to help Team Dingell with me on Election Day.
We are criss-crossing the district, working hard and talking about the issues. Honestly, the personal attacks on the man I love bother me, but I believe the voters of the 15th know John Dingell and know that he will fight for everyday to make a real difference in people’s lives. I just want to be sure we tell that story.
Thanks for your friendship and support.
Debbie Dingell
PS – If you haven’t become a fan of John’s Facebook page yet that is a simple thing you can do. It’s a great way for the campaign to be able to keep in touch with you about upcoming events and what we’re up to on the campaign trail! And while you’re at it, ask 10 other friends to join, too – that will help me spread the word and build momentum as we head into the homestretch.
