DINGELL IS 6 FOR 6 IN NEWSPAPER ENDORSEMENTS

The News-Herald Says Endorsement Represents Those in the Political Middle

Dearborn — Today, the News-Herald endorsed John Dingell for Michigan’s 15th District.  Following on the endorsements of the Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, Toledo Blade, Monroe Evening News, and Ann Arbor.com, The News-Herald has now also endorsed John Dingell declaring that “Dingell has been Downriver’s one true voice in Congress.”

The News-Herald compliments Dingell’s work in Congress and expresses gratitude for how he delivers for Michigan, even communities no longer in his District.  “He continues to take interest in and aid Downriver communities that no longer are in his district.”  They say another term for Dingell would keep him “in a position of strength” through the Democratic administration’s next two years.

And rebutting those who would attempt to portray Dingell as out-of-step with the District, the News-Herald also expresses their belief that rather than a liberal or conservative endorsement, they believe “their endorsement represents those in the middle.”  This presents quite a contrast with Rob Steele, who earned the Sarah Palin endorsement today, putting him far to the right of mainstream Michigan.

Dingell is always clear where he stands on the issues and clear that he always stands with the people he serves, unlike his opponent.  In fact in last week’s debate, Steele failed to mention a single program he would cut, despite running on a platform of spending cuts.  And Steele continues to fail to explain his statements clearly supporting privatization of Social Security and Medicare.  While he protests the use of the term “privatization,” he won’t explain how his discussion of investing Social Security for “real return” in individual “accounts” differs from privatization (HINT:  because there is no difference).

A week from today, on Tuesday, November 2nd, John Dingell will be re-elected to the U.S. House of Representatives to serve the people of Michigan’s 15th Congressional District because his constituency wants to have someone who is clear on where he stands and clear about who he works for, the hardworking families of Michigan.
