WHEN TELLING LIES DON’T WORK

Pay More Money to Tell More Lies??? Someone Needs a Reality Check

Dearborn, MI – Republican candidate Rob Steele, who is running against Congressman John Dingell, is up to his tricks again this Halloween.  And unfortunately for the working families of the 15th District, the only person Steele is treating is himself.  This weekend, Steele has not only released a radio ad and a TV ad calling Dingell’s real issue and results focused campaign a lie, he has also dunked $90,000 of his own money into this campaign.  Steele has now spent more than $100,000 of his own personal fortune to self-fund his Sarah Palin-endorsed agenda to deflect the reality that his campaign lacks specifics on the issues and instead, he is using his wealth to misrepresent Dingell’s strong record for Michigan in Congress.

It is understandable that Steele is trying to make it rain money on his campaign parade at the last minute; the working men and women of the 15th District are clearly seeing John Dingell’s true results all over the district as Dingell continues to deliver for the people he serves.  Dingell doesn’t say negative things, he tells the truth and sometimes the truth hurts.  As Dingell said himself this week, “I am like Harry Truman.  I don’t give them hell.  I tell the truth and they think it is hell.”  Unfortunately, as we have seen time and time again, Rob Steele has a history of back-peddling from the positions he has taken in the past, and then criticizing Dingell for telling the truth about Steele’s Palin-endorsed agenda.  What Steele says about Social Security, Medicare, and jobs simply don’t agree with reality, and it’s catching up to him.  Steele is on the record for privatizing Social Security, supporting the transition of Medicare into a voucher program, and supporting tax loopholes for corporations who ship jobs overseas.  However, when Dingell points out the truth, Steele backpeddles because he knows his Palin-endorsed agenda is toxic to Michigan voters. Maybe for Halloween, Steele should do something different “for a real change” and stop deflecting the truth and the real issues important to Michigan voters.  The radio and TV ads Steele is self funding at the last minute are tricky.  They need reality check-up.

Rob Steele thinks his treats of last minute self-funding cover his web of lies this Halloween.  However this campaign is not about trick or treats and the fact remains – Steele needs to answer the real questions of this campaign and stop lying about Dingell and pandering to ideological platitudes.
