Dingell on Debbie Wasserman Schultz,
President Obama’s Choice for DNC Chair
Congressman Dingell issued the following statement today regarding President Obama’s choice for DNC Chair:
“I am very pleased to hear that my good friend and colleague Debbie Wasserman Schultz is President Obama’s choice for the next DNC Chair.
“I have served with Debbie in the U.S. House of Representatives for years and I deeply admire her tireless advocacy for America’s children, seniors, and men and women in uniform. She has fought hard to keep our children safe as a champion of the PROTECT Our Children Act. She’s also never stopped working to ensure that our firefighters and policemen have the tools they need to get their jobs done. I am grateful to Debbie as well for stepping up in the fight to protect Social Security and Medicare for our seniors.
“Prior to serving in the US House, Debbie spent many years serving the citizens of Florida in their state legislature. Even when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, Debbie never stopped working for Floridians and American families. Instead of slowing down, she adopted another cause: educating women about the risks and prevention of breast cancer to protect the lives of our mothers, sisters, daughters and wives.
“Debbie’s experience and tenacity makes her a superb choice for DNC Chair as we head into the 2012 elections. She is a fine leader and I am confident she will handle the challenges of 2012 with the utmost strength and grace.”
