WASHINGTON  –  U.S. Rep. John D. Dingell, D-Dearborn, issued the following response to the President’s address to the American public on the Nation’s debt situation Monday night:
“The time for showmanship and partisan games is over.  Governing is the art of compromise, and Congress’s present inability to do so may open a Pandora’s box of financial ruin on August 2nd  that will affect not only Wall Street, but America’s working families.  Our country is great because we have made tough choices and had strong federal investments, and have understood that a balanced approach that considers all of our national goals is essential.  I urge my colleagues to put aside partisan bickering and act decisively in our Nation’s best interest:  Our children’s future depends on it.”
