Iraq

Congressman Dingell has opposed President Bush’s policies in Iraq since the initial resolution to invade Iraq was brought before Congress in 2002. He believed the President was unprepared for the aftermath of the invasion and lacked a plan for rebuilding the country. Furthermore, he believed the President failed to make a conclusive case that Saddam Hussein was an imminent threat to the United States, possessed weapons of mass destruction, and was linked to Al-Qaeda and the larger War on Terror. For all of these reasons he voted against invading Iraq.

In 2007, Congressman Dingell has repeatedly voted to bring the troops home in a both swift and responsible manner. Unfortunately, President Bush continues to stay the course by utilizing his veto power to block the efforts of Congress and deny the will of the American people.
