Dingell Launches New Campaign Website By Asking Citizens to Co-Sponsor Health Care Legislation

Michigan Congressman Asks Americans To Become Citizen Co-Sponsors Of The Children's Health First And Medicare For All Acts.

Dearborn, MI – Congressman John D. Dingell announced today the launch of his new campaign website www.dingellforcongress.com and called on visitors to sign-up online as "Citizen-Co Sponsors" of his Children's Health First Act (H.R . 1535) and Medicare for All Act (H.R. 2034).

Throughout the summer Congressman Dingell and volunteers from his campaign have been signing-up citizen co-sponsors at fairs, festivals and other community events. With the launch of his new website the Congressman hopes to give many more people the opportunity to show their support for providing quality and affordable health insurance to all Americans.

This year Americans will spend more than $1.9 trillion on health care, yet the number of those without insurance continues to grow. At last count, more than 46 million Americans under age 65 had no health insurance.

Those individuals who lack health insurance often forgo vital treatment using emergency rooms as their primary source of medical care.   No health insurance means higher health care costs for all Americans, far too many medical bankruptcies and worst of all 18,000 premature American deaths each year.

The legislation will save not only lives, but also American jobs.   American companies are at a disadvantage in the international marketplace when competing against businesses that do not directly bear the costs of providing their employees and retirees with health care.

Recently the fight for children's health care was boosted by the passage of the Children's Health and Medicare Protection Act (CHAMP) through the House of Representatives.   The bill would provide health insurance for 12 million children, but already President Bush has threatened a veto.

By becoming citizen co-sponsors, individuals will help Congressman Dingell show his colleagues in the Congress and President Bush that the time to insure all Americans is now.

Individuals wanting to sign up to become citizen co-sponsors should visit www.dingellforcongress.com.
