Congressman John Dingell announced the kick-off of his 27th congressional campaign and was greeted by a packed house of supporters at the Eagle Crest Marriott on Huron Street, Thursday night.
Dingell, originally from Dearborn, entered congress in 1955, filling his father's seat not long after his death. He is currently the longest serving member of Congress and in 2009 he will be the longest serving member in the history of the House of Representatives, eclipsing the late Jamie Whitten of Mississippi.
